Prince would have some choice words for those responsible.
  • The Guilty Ones should be the fans for all the drama they start

Honest review, I like six of the songs, the two released as singles are just kinda mid, the opener is fine and the rest is pretty durn good. Tick Tick Bang, Calabama, Heaven and Bestest Friend are the highlights, and the first two grabbed me by the nards immeiately. Heaven took a little getting used to for the spacious approach to the harmonies, but the end result is that it sounds like you're surrounded by a chorus of angels.. The Guilty Ones is a nice surprise rocker, too. It probably won't sell much but no album since Lotusflow3r has and it's a different game today. Probably 3rd tier for me in terms of the whole discography. Maybe the Vault will give us another posthumous album like W2A after this and maybe they should give the fans all the other things they want. But overall, I'm always glad to hear new Prince material.

  • 4 stars for 4 unheard songs

Excited for new Prince, sad that With This Tear, it brings it to 5 unheard, (but it doesn’t count because the Celine Dion recording has been around for decades). So, this is a missed opportunity. If you subtract songs that have been released in some form, then subtract heavily bootlegged songs that superfams have already heard, you get…an EP of 4 songs. So, as excited as I was for this, it misses the mark. The vault is still kinda locked up. Putting the Deliverance EP on this would make more sense than this tracklist. If ‘Call Me Anymore’ is indeed from the Piano & A Microphone Tour, it begs the question…why not release a full concert? Where’s Divinity? And if we are doing previously bootlegged, why not The Grand Progression? Or Old Friends 4 Sale with the original lyrics? I wish this was 10 unheard, unbootlegged, totally never released at all in any version songs. That sounds amazing. It can be done. Post release update 8/28/2026: Unfortunately the Timeless album just feels super random. Like if you are going to do a vault album with 10 songs it should alone all killer no filler. Sadly, instead it feels like a bootleg rather than I thoughtfully curated ”album.” Don’t get me wring, there are some gems in here. I Am You -a precursor of The Time’s I Don’t Want To Leave You- is probably the best thing I’ve heard all week! Love it! Heaven, I Wonder & Stone all have previously bootlegged versions and aren’t the strongest songs in his catalog - they feel like too much filler. (After revisiting my collection, it’s actually sad the faded Heaven. The jam section really makes the track shine. I hope they see it reasonable to put this “extended version” out as a single!!!) On a box set they’d be fine, but on a 10 track album, they hurt the overall impression left when it’s over. With This Tear is gorgeous and Prince on vocals definitely shows he should not have given it away, but again, the song has been previously released, albeit by Celine Dion. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the anniversary of his death though I ask why wasn’t it in the D&P box? The other unheard tracks are fantastic although Calabama seems to be more or less the jam Prince & The Band we’ve heard live. The live Call Me is wonderful, but begs the question: why not a whole concert from his final tour with a disc of vault tracks instead???? THAT, would have been truly “Timeless.”

There is something that feels off listening to music that he did not release when he was alive. He was SO particular about what songs gto put out and very private with his music. Now its all over the place, he didnt want that. I wont buy or suppport releasing his musica after he passed
  • Refreshing

Finally—some music that isn’t re-releases of his typical classic hits to help profit off his name and reputation. Some of these songs, like, “I Wonder” have already been out for years as bootlegs. The Prince Estate better catch up and officially release these tracks. They’re about ten years too late. So they best keep albums like these coming.

I love it! There’s a good mix of super funky 70’s sound (like I Am You), rock n roll (like Tick Tick Bang, a different version than the one in Graffiti Bridge), a beautiful ballad (With This Tear) and more songs with upbeat, happy music. I have been mesmerized by him since I first heard him in the 70s. This album gives me a flashback to those happier days of my life. The only music I will listen to is Prince. Thank you for releasing this beautiful collection. Some fans have different opinions, it could be because they don’t know what he sounded like back in the 70s and may only be familiar with his more recent work. For me, it takes me to a happy place and I am thankful to listen to anything that he made. I just bought the album yesterday and have listened to it about 8 times. Please keep releasing songs from the vault, these are the precious gifts that he left us. There will never be another Prince.💜His songs are definitely the soundtrack to my life.

I was a bit worried about this release when it was announced. Especially seeing as they announced the Parade Deluxe first, way back in March, and they really dropped the ball with “Around the World in a Day”. But… this is pretty solid. My favorite track is definitely “I Wonder”. I had a bootleg of this song back in 1997. That version was very stripped down. Drum beat, bass line and vocals was it. This full finished version on Timeless, is SO MUCH BETTER!!! Prince still Reigns!!! Best Tracks IMO: I wonder With this Tear Stone The Guilty Ones

Now I’m as big as a Prince fan as they come When to his shows from the Dirty Mind tour on. But as far as this selection goes I think they could have released songs that were far more catchy Is it new (old) material Yes Do I welcome anything by Prince Yes But as much as he has in the vault Seems like an Estate Money Grab (again) Very Dissatisfied
  • Even his lesser tracks are great

Prince is the best artist of all time. Even his music that he never intended to release is better than most things out there today. I like the tracks being from each stage of his career.

Timeless? Cheesy album title with mediocre to album filler songs. 10 years later and this is that we’re getting? Blah, meh, songs we’ve heard already or that just doesn’t do anything for you. As a Prince fan for 40 years, I’ve lost all faith that there are thousands of songs in the vault. I will never again be excited about another batch of unreleased songs by Prince.

This is like a hug from the Prince Estate to the fans. I love hearing familiar songs, ideas and melodies in these tracks…he truly is Timeless. The album ends with a somber live performance. Gone too soon RIP 💜

I am a huge Prince fan but these songs are not timeless. Good effort but stick to expanded editions of his releases. The tracks are all over the place but maybe that’s what you were going for. I expected better
